My holiday fabric wins! 13/10/16
Imagine a boiling hot day, sat by the pool, sipping a G & T on holiday in Spain, the breeze swooshing through the trees and the kids splashing in the pool. It was right there where I started sketching some holiday symbols. Sunshade, bikinis, birds, and cocktails – all inspired by the Nautical theme in Make it in Design’s Summer School brief.
Back in the UK, those sketches turned into coloured up illustrations and a sunny pattern. When I noticed that Fashionformula.co.uk – a fabric printing company for designers – were running their weekly design contest with a’Mediterranean Seaside’ theme, I had the perfect pattern. Submitted, I thought I’d get a few votes and a few people I knew would log on, register and cast a vote. I was totally overwhelmed when over 50 likes took my design to the winning place!
Yippee! I have to just choose the type of fabric – cotton, poly, linen – I want my 3 meters printed on to and then the hard part – what to turn it into? I have a few friends who are sewing experts, so will send them some, with some thread and see what they come up with!
